A South Tyneside swimming pool has reopened after improvements.
Hebburn Swimming Pool had been closed since the end of November for maintenance, and the opportunity was also taken to make various improvements.

In addition to re-grouting work to the pool tank, the main reception area has been remodelled to make it more customer-friendly.

Tiling work has also been done in both male and female changing areas, and new showers have been fitted in the health suite.

Coun Tracey Dixon, South Tyneside Council's lead member for culture and wellbeing, said: "It is great to see this busy facility open again, especially as this is one of the busiest times of year for people wanting to exercise.

"The centre has resumed its normal seven-days-a-week opening times, and I'm sure those flocking back through the doors will appreciate the new improvements.

"Adult annual membership is still only £5 and well worth the investment as it offers substantial price savings on admission fees."
