ND Swimming Performance Pathway & County Training Camps

Posted on Saturday, February 04, 2017 in News

The Northumberland and Durham Swimming Association have agreed to join the ASA England Programmes Team County Pathway Programme in 2017. As part of this programme, a performance pathway has been developed for the county.

The Pathway has been developed in line with England Programmes Multi Year Training model which allows for the progressive development of athletes from learn to swim to senior performance within Northumberland and Durham. The pathway integrates County, Regional and England Programme training camps and follows the England Programmes’ Competition structure.

Within the pathway, the four existing training hubs provide a stepping stone for athletes with opportunities to train and develop alongside peers from outside of their home clubs. The hubs link neatly into the Northumberland and Durham Performance Programme and the Performance Clubs and Schemes within the county.

The Northumberland and Durham Performance Programme replaces the existing Beacon programme and will continue to provide an environment for the county’s highest performing athletes to train together in World Class facilities supported by high level coaches.

The pathway aims to provide opportunities for the development of World Class athletes and coaches across the county through collaborative working and the development of a strong support network.
