As most people will be aware the South Tyneside September Open Meet this coming weekend is the same weekend as the BUPA Great North Run.

There is a list of planned road closures for Sunday 19th September on the South Tyneside Council  website and the Great Run website.

The road closures do not start until 9am, so travel to the Pool for the morning session should be unaffected.  If you are travelling for the afternoon session only on Sunday, or only swimming for the morning session on Sunday, access to Jarrow and Hebburn is via the A19.

• A167 Central Motorway, including Tyne Bridge
• A184 Park Lane
• A194 Leam lane
• A1300 John Reid Road
• A183 Redwell Lane/Coast road roundabout
• Bents Park Road, South Shields

9am to 6pm

• Leam Lane from White Mare Pool to John Reid Road roundabout (northeast bound carriageway)
• John Reid Rd roundabout to King George Road roundabout (eastbound)
• King George Road roundabout to Coast Road & then onto the New Crown Roundabout
• Sea Road from the New Crown roundabout to the entrance of South Prom South C/P
• Station Road southbound from Coronation St / Commercial Road roundabout
• Coast Road from Redwell Bank south for 410m (Marsden Grotto)
