2017 Derwentside ASC Charity Meet - Total Raised

Posted on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in News

A total of just under  £8000 was raised so we made it up to donate  £4000 to each charity - CF Trust and SANDS. One of our parents was able to get match funding from Barclays which meant another £100 for the CF Trust - it can only go to one charity.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported our charity meet - I just wish I could do it personally. The original intention was to share the proceeds between the CF Trust and a different local charity each year but in 2013, my granddaughter, Lucy, was stillborn so the committee nominated SANDS as the second charity. Then, the following year, her brother Jack was born and he had to be rushed from University Hospital Durham to the RVI for a life saving operation when he was less than 24 hours old as he had a very rare bowel problem. Fortunately, he made a complete recovery and hence the reason we alternate with Ward 9/PICU at the RVI and SANDS - I'm sure everyone knows someone who is grateful to the RVI children's department.

To date, £66 650 has been raised for charity.

Next year's meet is 9th/10th June and the charities are the CF Trust and the Great North Children's Hospital.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards, Philip Powell
