Competition Development Squad

Welcome to the Competition Development Squad section.  The Competition Development Squad train 4 days during a normal week, swimming takes place at Boldon Comprehensive School, Jarrow School and Hebburn Central.  For further squad details see below.

  • Junior League 2023 - Team Selection

    There will be a junior league selection next week for all squad swimmers age 9 by the 26th of November and 12 and under by the 31st of December. The session will be at Boldon 4.30-6.30pm. Any swimmers who usually train at Boldon on a Thursday and are not of junior league age, please attend Jarrow 6.45-8.15pm

Minimum Attendance Commitment

There are 4 swimming sessions available for this squad. Average % attendance must be maintained at above 80%.  Swimmers must fulfil an attendance of 80% or above to be considered for a move into the County and Age Group Squad.  Land training sessions must be attended in addition to pool training sessions. Swimmers of competitive age are required to swim at a minimum of 4 competitive galas per season.

    Aims

    • Work towards achieving goals set for the season
    • Develop a high level of technical ability in all four strokes
    • Build an aerobic base and introduce anaerobic energy system training
    • Develop time management skills
    • Work towards performing at County, Regional and National competitions

      Full Club track suit MUST be worn at Swimmer of the Month presentations and for travel to and from all competitions

      Injuries need written information from a physiotherapist, including nature of the injury, possible cause, length of recovery time, limitations whilst in recovery, any exercises given for cure/prevention of recurrence.
